Wurzbach Parkway Family Dental practices sedation dentistry in San Antonio (often known as Relaxation Dentistry) to help patients relax during their dental procedure. Our entire team has been trained to care for sedated patients and we make it our priority that your visit is pleasant and safe. Both IV and oral sedation dentistry options are very safe.
Benefits of Sedation Dentistry
- Patients experience a calm, anxiety-free and comfortable visit.
- A majority of patients feel no discomfort during their treatment and have little to no memory of their dental visit.
- An appointment that takes hours will fly by in minutes.
Types of Sedation Dentistry
We offer both types of sedation and your dentist will determine what is best for you.
Oral sedation dentistry – An anti-anxiety pill is prescribed and is taken one hour prior to the appointment. Unlike intravenous sedation, the patient is drowsy but awake during the procedure, feels a blissful state of relaxation and doesn’t remember the procedure after the visit.
Intravenous sedation (IV Sedation Dentistry) – An anti-anxiety liquid is administered directly into the patient’s arm or back of the hand. Relaxation effects are instantaneous. The patient is monitored throughout the procedure.
