Repair and Strengthen Weakened Enamel
Once Your Enamel Has Worn Away, It’s Gone For Good
However, there are things you can do to help strengthen the enamel you do have in order to protect and prevent it from further erosion. The process is called “remineralization” which involves introducing a remineralizing toothpaste and following a remineralizing diet.
Be Consistent With Proper Dental Hygiene
Brush and floss every day in order to keep bacterial acids at bay.
Drink more water in order to water down harmful acids and keep the body hydrated to prevent dry mouth.
Avoid sugar and acidic drinks. Sugar attracts the bacteria that produce acids that attack your enamel.
Eat a Mineralizing Diet
Calcium rich foods like yogurt and cheese, collard greens and kale give the body and teeth what they need to fortify calcium reserves, which is an important mineral for the strength of the teeth.
Phosphorus rich foods like eggs, red meat, pumpkin seeds, tofu and fish. Phosphorus combines with calcium to form crystalline calcium phosphate, the mineral compound that makes up your tooth enamel.
Fat soluble vitamins like vitamins A, E, K and especially D3
Consume probiotic supplements or yogurt. Probiotic foods have shown to have the ability to neutralize the acids that can erode tooth enamel. Plus with the added bonus of calcium, yogurt is an all-around excellent food staple for remineralizing your teeth.
Increase saliva production by eating the fresh fruits and vegetables. Saliva neutralizes harmful acids and helps enhance mineralization by providing calcium, phosphorus and fluoride to the teeth.
